Sergi
Hello everyone!
My name is Sergi Navarra Parés, I was born in 2003. I'm from Sant Cugat del Valles. I'm studying 4th of ESO in Thau Sant Cugat. Next year I will be studying at CIC. I have two little brothers,Quim and Guillem. Quim is 14 years old and Guillem is 10 years old. I enjoy playing basketball with all my friends in a team called UESC. Also I love playing video games and listening to music.
Today we went to the cliffs of Moher. It has been a very interesting visit. There were stunning views of the sea and we have been able to take many pictures. This cliffs consist of sandstone and shale. They were formed during the Upper Carboniferous period approximately 300.000.000 years ago. Another interesting thing about the cliffs is that many different bird species live there. Such as the Puffins, the Kittiwakes or the Razorbills. As I said it was very cool to go there and I hope to come back in the future!
DAY 2
We went to Jeanie Johnston. Jeanie Johnston is a replica of a ship that was originally built in Quebec, Canada, in 1847. The original ship was bought as a cargo vessel to trade between Tralee and North America. Their objective was to bring emigrants from Ireland to North America and then to bring timber back to Europe. This people emigrated because of the bad living conditions they had in Ireland. An interesting thing about Jeanie Johnston is that no one died during their trips, although there were many diseases. In the afternoon we did an Instagram Challenge, we had to take a selfie in different places of Dublin. These activities were fun, but the weather was not that good.
Day 3
After a short bus ride we arrived at the monastery of Clonmacnoise, one of the most important monasteries in Ireland. It was founded between 545 and 548 by Ciraran. The strategic location of the monastery helped him to become an important center of religion and educaion. We can see the north cross, the oldest of the three existing crosses. The decoration is not Christian, with an image of Cernunnos. The south cross has a Christian scene on the west face: the crucifixion of christ. The cross of Scripture of 4 meters high made of sandstone.
In the afternoon we played some Irish sports such as Gaelic footbal and hurling. To finish the day we went to see a traditional Irish music concert. It has been a lot of fun to play games that I have never tried!
Day 4
In the morning we went to the General Post Office. The GPO was the headquarters of the leaders if the uprising. It is also where the Proclamation of Independence was written. This building was destroyed by a fire in the course of the rebellion.
In the afternoon we did a guided walking tour of Dublin. We went trough the most important places of the city where the Easter Rising took place.
The Trinity College became a British base durnig the war. The Bank, built with no windows to avoid the taxes they had to pay for each window. Finally, we visited the Dublin Castle where the first shots of the revolution were fired. Guided tour has been interesting but we had to walk a lot during the whole day ...
Day 5
After saying good bye to our host family we went to Galway, one of the biggest cities in Ireland. There we did another Instagram challenge that you can find on our Instagram account. In the afternoon wa had free time until we went back to moate. At night we went to a disco!
Ireland for me
On this trip to Ireland I have had a lot of fun. Not only working, also at free time with friends and learning new things about Ireland. What I liked most was free time to go around the city with friends. I also loved the cliffs of Moher, the views were amazing.
What I would improve would be that the students could go freely around Moate, some home afternoons were a bit boring. I would also implement some sport activities like the ones we did (Gaelic football)fb vn . But the trip in general I liked it a lot.
